So inspiring!

Just wanted to take a moment and congratulate all of the CFC athletes/judges/volunteers/coaches/spectators this past weekend! You guys were phenomenal! You are truly inspiring as athletes and more importantly, people. Thank you for showing us what is possible!

A few especially inspiring moments:

Kurt: doing how many pullups after that tear? do you need a blood transfusion?
George: 255 # thruster! You shirtless beast!
Glenn: pretty much everything you did. but i'm biased.
Steph: 15 muscle ups! and 9x 95# squat snatches. Holy wow! When did you get that first squat snatch? More heart than I have seen in a long time...way to go!
Emily: DL/Box jump WOD. Good lord girl, way to make it look easy!
Gina: How many double unders did you do in that 100 chipper???
Jess H: Beating most of the guys on that run/hspu/row WOD.
Erin C.: 150 # thruster, Amanda was so EASY for you! Amazing....
Alex: 300+ # DL's with a crappy, hurting back? And taking fourth? Wow.
Elizabeth: Doing 15 muscle ups after getting your first one 3 wks ago. You did pull that out of your ass! And that determination in that final WOD. You said you were gonna win it. So proud of you lady!
Rudy: A true coach. Even to athletes not your own. Kind, positive, and truly...has taught me who I want to be when I grow up.
Jonny: There are no words. All of this was because of you. Congratulations.

I am dying to pick up a bar! Bring it on tomorrow hero wods.

So easy to break, so hard to fix...

Amazing. How injuring something takes a split second, and healing takes so long! Saw Dr. Kali, the hand surgeon today. What a wonderful person. That guy doesn't charge me, does all my xrays for free, and really cares. I am so lucky to have him on my side.

Still need to wear the extension splint at night. Still not cleared for occupational therapy. And still can't lift, or grip heavy stuff. Probably a good few more weeks till OT, and then a slow reintroduction back into gripping. The intra-joint swelling will probably take a couple of months to subside, and there is still a small chance I will need surgery to remove the bone fragment. Cross your fingers that this does not happen!

So what does this mean??? More squats I guess! And more work for Rudy who has been wonderful in helping me come up with modifications. Sorry coach. :=)

In other news, still sick. Improving, but slowly. Seems as if it's going around. Regardless, would have gone to the gym though today to tackle the 100, but had to see the hand guy. Oh well, will make more up these next days. On the plus side, at least I'm sick and injured at the same time. :=)

The paleo + dairy challenge is going well. I have been strict since Sunday with no cheats. Prior to this, I was at a board review course, unable to really store food to eat. So, my paleo challenge started this past weekend. Let's see how this shapes up. I'm curious to see if I might heal faster.... I'll take all the help I can get.

Lamb allergy???!!!!

Ok so after eating lamb for the very first time in my life, I think I am allergic to it. It seemed to burn my throat going down, and I thought...that's just the spices. Not good thinking, because some days I forget I'm brown and spices don't bug me in general!
The next day I woke up, completely congested, runny nose, sore throat, the whole deal. It seemed to happen rather accutely after the lamb, so I googled lamb allergy. Lo and behold,

runny nose
cough
sore throat
sinusitis
headache
sneezing

R'uh oh. At least I know now. I am a bit better today, hope to be back at the gym tomorrow.
I think I am not going to do the paleo challenge. I eat relatively clean anyways, don't ever eat bread, and I think I can get up to the 90% of the time paleo that Rudy suggested. He also suggested Post WOD dairy which I am psyched about. I think my challenge will be less about being "strict" paleo, and more about getting to about 90% paleo by cutting out sugar and sweets, aka ice cream and a few m&m's here and there.

Broken....again!

Went to go play some "fun" ultimate and broke my finger. The irony here is that there was no reason for it. I'm kind of like a puppy...that frisbee goes up and I can't help but try to get that thing at all costs. Eek!

So, trying to get rid of the negativity which initially comes to mind (aka, I'm hurt again, and just when I was getting strong...etc, etc), I am going to use this opportunity to work on my squat, glutes, and core. I gotta get stronger anyways, right?

I'm also thinking I won't be playing ultimate this season. I want to work on o lifting, and crossfit. Once again, those big goals haven't gone away, and now that I have some time, I want to turn it up a few thousand notches...

Gotta thank Rudy big time, as he always finds a positive way to work on stuff if one part is hurt. Thank you Rudy!
